File Size Limits in Delta
This article explains the maximum file sizes allowed when uploading documents or sending messages with attachments in Delta. Understanding these limits will help you avoid upload errors and know what to do if a file is too large.
Document Uploads
The maximum size for any document uploaded into Delta is 200 MB.
This limit applies across all areas of the system where documents can be uploaded, including tender exercises, contract records, and document libraries. If a file exceeds this limit, the upload will be rejected and you will need to reduce the file size before trying again.
Some buying organisations may have access to a higher upload limit as part of their subscription package. If you believe your organisation requires this, please get in touch with the support team to check what is available on your account.
Message Attachments
The maximum size for a file attached to a message sent through Delta's message centre system is 5 MB.
This is a much lower limit than the document upload limit, as the message centre is not meant to be used to submit your response documents.
File Name Length
File names must be no longer than 200 characters, including the file extension (e.g. .pdf, .docx). Files with longer names will need to be renamed before uploading.
File Types That Cannot Be Uploaded
For security reasons, Delta does not accept the following file types:
- Executable files (.exe)
- Web page files (.htm and .html)
What to Do If Your File Is Too Large
If you are having trouble uploading a file because it exceeds the size limit, here are a few things you can try:
Compress the file. If your file is only slightly over the limit, compressing it into a ZIP file may reduce the size enough to upload successfully. This works particularly well for documents, spreadsheets, and image files.
Split the content across multiple files. If you are uploading a large report or bundle of documents, consider splitting it into smaller separate files and uploading each one individually.
